District 11 - St. Cloud area
Last updated: 2024-11-18CO Stephen Westby (Little Falls) received several TIP complaints and worked with neighboring officers assisting with investigations. Several shining complaints were taken, and time was spent speaking with hunters. Many deer were seen in the area with a good harvest in Morrison County.
CO Caleb Silgjord (Sauk Centre) spent time during the week working the firearms deer season. Hunter success seemed a bit sporadic throughout the week with warm weather, rain, and high winds. Multiple calls about dumped deer carcasses were fielded and investigated. Enforcement action for the week included an overlimit of walleyes, illegal operation of an OHM, and no federal duck stamp,
CO Todd VanderWeyst (Paynesville) worked deer-hunting TIP calls regarding hunting over bait and trespass. He is still seeing boats out. He also handled some vehicle maintenance and an incidentally taken otter.
CO Brett Fox (St. Cloud) spent the week patrolling for ATV, hunting, and angling activity. Lots of time was spent patrolling at night for various deer-hunting violations. Violations this week included trespass, hunting over bait, hunting without a license, lend and borrow, and attempting to take an overlimit.
CO Adam Stennett (Annandale) worked the firearms deer season. Duck hunters were also checked throughout the week. Multiple calls were taken regarding dumped deer carcasses. A TIP call of late shooting was investigated. Enforcement action for the week included hunting deer over bait, lend/borrow a hunting license, failure to validate a license, failure to tag deer, burning prohibited materials, and operating a Class 2 ATV in the road ditch.
CO Keith Bertram (Long Prairie) responded to a call about a hunter shooting at a deer from his zero-turn lawnmower. Upon arriving, two hunters were found hunting near the lawnmower over corn piles. One hunter also had a single-shot shotgun with birdshot in case he saw any turkeys. That season has been closed for weeks.
