Weekly CO report
District 13 - West Metro area
Last updated: 2024-11-18CO Mike Lerchen (Bloomington) continued to check deer hunters, anglers, and waterfowl hunters. Duck numbers remain low in the area. Enforcement action for the week included angling after revocation, angling with extra lines, and hunting over bait.
CO James Fogarty (Prior Lake) checked firearms deer hunters and pheasant hunters. Warm weather and a full moon seemed to keep deer movement to the nighttime. Several hunters were checked, and baiting issues were addressed. Fogarty also issued citations for transporting loaded firearms in a motor vehicle.
CO Ben Ulrich (Osseo) spent the week working angling and big-game enforcement and helping neighboring officers. Some violations encountered this past week included fishing without a license, fishing with extra lines, failure to validate a deer tag, failure to tag a deer, and lend and borrow.
CO Kylan Hill (Mound) and COC Trevon Pietz worked the Winona and Wabasha area during the weekend. Violations found included failure to register big game, failure to validate a site tag, and failure to wear sufficient blaze orange during the firearms deer season. Waterfowl hunters, small-game hunters, and anglers were checked as well. Many deer hunters had mixed hunting success this weekend.
CO Alexander Birdsall (Waconia) and COC Brianna Shaw report a group of waterfowl hunters were rescued after being marooned on an island due to a leaking boat. There was a crack in the hull of the aluminum boat.
CO Brent Grewe (Minnetonka) spent the week checking deer hunters and anglers and following up on complaints. Violations included juveniles operating ATVs without wearing helmets.
