District 14 - East Metro area

CO Tony Salzer (Ham Lake) patrolled Anoka County for hunting and angling activity. CO Salzer fielded several calls regarding general hunting questions as well as public water access questions. Salzer also fielded a wetland complaint as well as a public waters complaint. Time was also spent training new hires and assisting at a firearm safety class.

CO Scott Arntzen (Forest Lake) spent the week patrolling the area WMAs checking small game and archery deer hunters. He handled several injured animal calls, fielded questions about trespassing and late shooting. Violations for the week included no small game licenses, no federal/state waterfowl stamps and shooting a non-game migratory bird.

CO Matt Paavola (White Bear Lake) checked area small game, deer and waterfowl hunters. Several complaints were fielded thought the week involving angling and game violations. Big game cases were investigated along with hunter harassment complaints.

CO Garrett Thomas (Eagan) and COC Winkels focused on checking small game and waterfowl hunters. Time was also spent assisting other DNR employees at a water safety camp, where over 600 children attended. The pair also presented at a firearms safety class, as well as a MTA trapper education class.

CO Steve Chihak (Hastings) spent the week working migratory waterfowl and small game hunting, sport fishing and ATV enforcement. Time was also spent completing taxidermy inspections.

CO Tou Vang (ELCOP-Hmong) conducted equipment maintenance and patrolled area lakes and public accesses. Anglers contacted reported a mix bag of success. A commercial deer farm inspection was conducted and follow up was done on taxidermy inspections .
