District 15 - Marshall area
Last updated: 2025-05-12CO Shawn Wichmann (Slayton) spent the week working angling and boating activity. Due to the above average temperatures, the weekend was busy with both angling and recreational boating activity. ATV operators are reminded to read the regulations before permitting juveniles to operate ATVs.
CO Derek Daniels (Lake Benton) worked angling, boat and water, invasive species, turkey hunting, ATV, and OHM enforcement this past week. Nice weather on Saturday had many anglers out enjoying the fishing opener with lots having decent success. Enforcement action was taken primarily for boating equipment and PFD violations. Assistance was provided to local law enforcement.
CO Mason Bulthuis (Madison) focused on angling activity over a busy opening weekend. Although warm temperatures dampened the fish bite, many anglers still found success throughout the area. Bulthuis reminds Lac qui Parle Lake anglers of the new special regulation which reduces the crappie limit to 5.
CO Dustin Roemeling (Worthington) spent the week training K-9 Cora at Camp Ripley. Assistance was provided with commercial activities. The fishing opener brought out a lot of anglers, who had moderate success on local lakes. Enforcement action was taken for license violations and registration violations.
CO Dallas Cornell (Ortonville) spent the week working sport fishing and boat and water safety. With the inland water fishing opener several anglers and boats were seen on the water. Angling success was minimal on most area lakes as the wind was strong toward the end of the weekend. Boaters are reminded to check over their boats prior to getting on the water for the required safety equipment.
CO Luke Gutzwiller (Montevideo) spent time this past week working angling and boating activity over the Minnesota fishing opener. Time was also spent following up with ongoing investigations. K9 Earl assisted with an evidence search.
CO Matt Loftness (Marshall) Spent the week working fishing, boating, AIS, ATV, and state park enforcement. Nice weather made for a busy fishing opener weekend. Plenty of families took advantage of the weather with temps in the mid 80s. Investigations were worked dealing with state park and fishing issues. Walleye and northern fisherman are reminded that your daily limit is also your possession limit.
