CO Joe Kulhanek (Marine Unit-Metro) spent the busy weekend working area waters for fishing opener. He also assisted with training a local Sheriff's office deputies in boat operation and attended Big Truck Night. Enforcement action for the week included overlimit of crappie, out of season bass, expired registration among others.

CO Matt Miller (Marine Unit Duluth) worked a boat and water safety detail for the Governor's Fishing Opener event. Anglers and boaters were checked on the Whitefish Chain on a beautiful opener, with the usual avoidable spring violations relating to registration, lifejackets, and forgotten equipment. Traffic control and evacuations were worked at the Camp House fire. A complaint was received of heavy equipment working in a Lake Superior tributary causing a large sediment plume. Enforcement action taken for boating, angling, and public waters violations.

CO Mitch Lawler (Marine Unit - Alexandria) assisted the with enforcement efforts this week surrounding the governor's fishing opener in Cross Lake. Great weather helped make an exciting event for that community. Anglers and boaters were monitored around Alex during the hot weather with transom riding, unlicensed angling and watercraft registration violations detected.
