The DNR's Parks and Trails Division manages campgrounds in 22 state forests. These campgrounds are all first-come, first-served. Most furnish only basic amenities such as picnic tables and fire rings, toilets and a water source. Check fees for the state forest campgrounds.
Off-highway vehicles (OHVs) are only permitted in certain state forest campgrounds. OHVs in campgrounds are subject to the same rules and regulations as highway-licensed vehicles.
- The vehicle must be legally registered.
- Riders must follow all posted signs and rules.
- Riders must use only designated roadways, campground spurs and parking areas. There is no recreational or utilitarian riding within the campground, or off roads or spurs.
