This list includes real-time river level gauges along all of Minnesota's state water trails. Most of the gauges have been interpreted for paddling on a scale ranging from "scrapable" (so low that paddlers may have to get out of their watercraft to avoid rocks) to "very high" (where paddling is considered dangerous and not recommended).
Search by river by typing the name of the river in the "Name" bar below. Select "Site Name" to view additional details on the gauge readings. Select “Water Trail” for more information on that water trail. To access river gauges in a map view, open the interactive map and select "Show" next to River Gauges in the legend.
River levels are subject to rapid change based on precipitation, flowage through dams and other factors. Please plan accordingly.
Disclaimer: River gauges have been interpreted by paddlers and DNR staff based on experience, observations and gauge readings. Errors may exist. Please email us to let us know if the river gauge reading matched your paddling experience. Your feedback is important to us.
