All trails are open to foot travel. Due to the warm spring conditions prior to the latest snow storm the ground is too soft to support our grooming equipment. We will not be grooming for the remainder of the season.

The trail(s):
The trail sits in the forested river bottoms consisting of cottonwood, green ash, silver maple and willow. The park harbors an abundance of wildlife, including deer, fox, woodchucks, and skunks.
You can snowshoe anywhere in Minnesota's state parks and recreation areas, except on trails that are specifically groomed for another activity, such as skiing or snowmobiling.
Facilities:
- The Thomas C. Savage Visitor Center is open 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Wednesday - Sunday. Hours may vary due to staff availability.
- Purchase a ski pass
- Winter snowshoe rental is available at the office as conditions permit. Snowshoes are available from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and must be returned by 3:30 p.m. The cost is $6 per pair for up to four hours. The office is closed on Mondays.
- There is no camping allowed in the park.

Fort Snelling State Park is located on Post Road off State Highway 5, just west of the main terminal exit for the International Airport.
Parking is available at the park entrance, Visitor Center, various other parking lots in the park, and across the Minnesota River near the Henry Sibley Historic Site (for access to the eastern trails).
