The trail(s):
Trails pass through hardwood forests, often with scenic views of park lakes and rivers. Topography is rolling, but trails are primarily flat or with gradual slopes. Deer, fox and raccoon are plentiful and commonly seen. Glendalough offers a very quiet and natural skiing experience.
You can snowshoe anywhere in Minnesota's state parks and recreation areas, except on trails that are specifically groomed for another activity, such as skiing or snowmobiling.

Facilities:

  • A warming house is available on weekends after grooming begins or through reservation. Contact park for further details.
  • Daily ski passes are sold at the park office from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Ski and snowshoe rentals are available at park office from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays or by appointment.
  • 4 heated camper cabins and 2 heated yurts are available for reservation. Call the park in advance for winter tent camping.

Getting there

From Battle Lake, head north 1.5 miles on State Hwy. 78. Turn east on County Road 16. Follow 1.8 miles to park entrance road. Once inside the park, take park road until it turns into gravel, then turn right and cross bridge to trail center parking area.

Parking is available in the park. Vehicle permit required.
